Last night, I saw a powerful new movie called The Insider. It's about a man who risked everything to tell the truth because he knew it was the right thing to do.

Integrity can mean many things, but at its root, Integrity means the quality of being complete or unbroken - wholeness. The power of this movie is that the central character is forced to make a decision - a difficult decision that could break anyone, to sign a confidentiality agreement that states he will not divulge any information to anyone about his work at Brown & Williamson tobacco company. One of many companies that have been contributing to hundreds of thousands of people dying from lung cancer and related illness each year!

(This is a TRUE story)
The main character, Wiegand is forced to struggle between telling the truth - a truth that could save thousands of lives, or remaining quiet. If he remains quiet, thousands WILL die. If he tells the truth, he risks being imprisoned for breaking the confidentiality agreement (which is enforceable by law), losing his severance package and benefits (the golden handcuff) and unexpectedly, his marriage.

In this apparent no-win scenario, he decides to honor his integrity and tell the truth - no matter what the consequences are. He sees that remaining quiet would not only break his own integrity, but add to the already long list of atrocities put on the American public by the tobacco industry.


What difference does this make to Me, Paul?
Many people go through their daily lives and are faced with honoring themselves or someone else that they think rules their lives. When given this choice, ask yourself "What's the right thing to do in this situation?" The thing that when you go to sleep at night you can say to yourself "I did the right thing".

There's an old quote that Abraham Maslow taught Wayne Dyer and it says:


"Learn to be free of the good opinion of others"

Let's take this lesson one step further... Learn to be free of the good opinion of your own ego.

I have a question.
Are you willing to listen to your Heart and intuition and be true to yourself, even when it hurts? Are you willing to do the unpopular thing especially when it's needed? Do you now work for a company that routinely rapes the land with pollution, or for a drug company that uses animals for testing and even worse uses humans as guinea pigs? Does this sound too opinionated? Only to those unwilling to really look at what is needed to honor our Earth, our children, ourselves.

Have you ever considered the consequences of your decisions? Do you purchase toxic products from companies like Monsanto (maker of Nutrasweet - a known toxic compound that slowly poisons the body - and they are now trying to "bioengineer" crops such as corn, soybeans, etc. that create dangerous side effects)? Do you smoke? Do you allow your children to watch violence on TV thinking "Oh, they'll get over it"?

Every seed we sow grows, so we need to be aware - fully conscious of what we are planting in our own minds and the minds of those who you influence.


What can I do today to have more integrity?

Sit for a moment, and ask yourself:

Why am I here?
What am Here to do?
How can I best use my creative talents and speak my Truth?

How can I honor my intuition - my Heart and honor this sacred Earth I live on - to help protect it for my children?


As you go about your daily life, listen to your Heart, remember that integrity means the state of being complete, connected to your own self. What can you do as you are reading this, that will honor your own integrity?


Ask yourself:


"What do I need to be truthful about that will honor myself
and free up energy within me?"


Listen and trust...

The key to developing better time management skills is to shift your focus from simply being busy to concentrating on results. Step 1 - Accept where you are

You want things to change? Great! Accept where you are now.
It’s the perfect place to start! In fact it is the only
place to start.

Imagine you are in New York and you want to go to Amsterdam.
Do you think it’s any use to tell yourself, ‘I’m not in
New York, I’m not in New York’, or to complain about being
in New York? To feel sorry for yourself for being in New York?
To have regrets about spending so much time in New York?

Don’t get me wrong, I think New York is a wonderful place,
I’m just using this as an example!

Do you think any of the attitudes and thoughts mentioned
above will get you any closer to Amsterdam? Of course not.
To get to Amsterdam, you first have to accept that you
are in New York and then you can order your ticket to fly
to Europe!

It’s basically the same with where you are in your life
right now. Do you see how it’s no use at all to fight
what IS?

I spent a lot of years being a tennis coach and I used
to teach the B.A.D.-technique. When my pupils made an
error or played a point they considered to be ‘BAD’, my
idea about it was: B.A.D. stands for: Bummer, Accept it,
and do it Differently next time!

You might say it’s best not to think in terms of ‘good’
and ‘bad’ at all – and I will get to that in a later
step – but this basic approach may help you to let go,
instead of raging against the windmills of the past
in a Don Quixote like manner.

After all, you cannot ‘un-play’ a point, can you?
If you have been watching tennis on TV lately, you
might have seen the ‘challenge system’ in action.
That system works like this: if a player hits a shot
that is called ‘out’ by one of the linesmen or by
the chair umpire – or is NOT called ’out’ when a
player thinks it should have been - the player can
challenge that decision, after which players,
officials AND spectators all get to see a replay of
the stroke in question in animated form, generated
by a computer program called ‘Hawkeye’.

Many times the decision of the linesmen is overruled
this way and the point will be played again or is
awarded to the other player.

Now this makes for an interesting metaphor. The shot
itself wasn’t changed – it was already played – but
the interpretation, the outcome, of the stroke can
be altered.

Translated to our day-to-day life, we may find
ourselves in a bad condition, but we can ‘challenge’
how we usually would interpret this. Will we let our
current circumstances dictate what we think, believe
and feel? Or will we understand that our circumstances
are just the result of what we have been thinking,
believing, feeling, speaking and doing up till now –
and that we can start where we are right now to create
the life we want?

Remember, where – and who – we are right now is the
ONLY possible place to start!

I’m sure you’ve heard the joke about the bar where
the owner put a sign up that said: “Tomorrow Free Beer!”
Of course tomorrow, that sign will still say the same …

In conclusion: does accepting where you are right now mean
that you should be instantly happy about everything that
happens to you? No. Experience the emotion you are feeling
fully, express it constructively and keep the intent to
feel happy very soon again.

The Science of Getting Rich is a timeless classic written in 1910 by Wallace D. Wattles.
